Bullet Journal - October Update

So my bullet journal has kind of become my life saviour. I never want to go anywhere without it because quite frankly, its just so handy! It does pretty much everything I need!

This month I changed it up quite a bit because the layouts of last month, which you can view here, weren't really working out for me. I have put in examples below of what my different layouts look like and I will also describe what I did and what I liked about each one.

As you'll probably notice, I went fairly boring this month and didn't include any colour for the sake of convenience as I usually only have my black pen to hand. I quite like it though, I think it makes it a little easier on the eye in my opinion.

So this is my October spread and I loved this so much! It did pretty much everything I needed it to. I definitely prefer this calendar style to the original layout I used which was in Ryder's list style. It allowed me extra room for the days I need to write down multiple things and I found it much easier to read quickly.

On the right hand side I had my 'Buy' section which I found wasn't as useful as I thought it would be because it is more convenient to have a shopping list on my phone but the 'Money' section has been really useful for tracking my spending. I found the 'To Do' Section was great for putting down those tasks that don't need a specific date to be done by and the 'Blog' section was also super useful as I loved having a plan of what I needed to write but because I filled it all out at the start of the month, I wanted to change things around which was quite hard to do.

So this was my first weekly spread of the month and I definitely liked the simplicity of it but I found it hard to plan ahead with this layout as I would do it day-by-day rather than laying out the spread for the whole week. This meant that the sections were uneven and I had to use a sticky note for my future tasks. I found using a sticky note super useful for a to-do list throughout the week but its not very aesthetically pleasing so I'm still trying to come up with an idea to fix that.

This is my most recent weekly spread and its slightly different from the last one as I drew the spread all in one go. This meant that I could plan for the rest of the week and all the sections were evenly spaced. I preferred my sticky note on this week but I still want a way to get rid of it all together. One thing I am missing from last month's weekly spreads is the daily trackers which I think I am going to include again next month.

Last month I mentioned that I had a random blank page in my bullet journal that I wanted to fill with a collection and to put it to good use, I made it into a homework grade tracker. The first two columns just describe the homework, the next three tell me how I did, the corrected column tells me if I have corrected it or not and what my corrected grade was and the final column tells me if I did better or worse than the previous week. I always like tracking my grades and I think its one of the keys to success in school which is why I thought it would be a great idea to integrate it into my bullet journal.

I have been super happy with my bullet journal this month, I feel as though it has really boosted my productivity which is always great news! There are a couple of changes I think I will make next month but I definitely think I'm close to the layout that works for me!

Do you use a bullet journal? Any tips for short term planning instead of a sticky note? Let me know!

I hope you have a great day and if it's your birthday, happy birthday!

DIY Halloween Costumes

Halloween is just around the corner and its time to get your creative juices flowing to come up with a great costume. The only problem I find with this is the cost. We don't all have £50 to spend on a great costume you know? To battle this, I've created a (genius) list of:

18 DIY Halloween Costume Ideas

1. A Terrifying Tiger

Any plain black outfit like a dress or playsuit with a little bit of face paint. Pixie Lott rocks this look fabulously.

2. A Beautiful Bat

You could easily DIY this using some black fabric with a loop on the ends to put your fingers through. Pair that with a black dress, a DIY headband and boom.

3. Sugar Skull

You could wear any outfit with this make up look and you'd look fabulous. Just google sugar skull for some inspiration.

4. Fabulous Thief

This is such an easy one to put together: black jeans, a stripy top, black beanie and a DIY mask to top it all of.

5. Mario / Luigi

This would make great best friend or couple costume. Just put together some dungarees or trousers with braces, a decorated hat and coloured top.

6. Minion

Yellow t-shirt, shorts/jeans and braces with some DIY goggles will perfectly capture the minion look.

7. Half Skeleton

This makeup look is incredible and is probably beyond my capabilities but you'd look amazing if you could manage it!

8. Cute Cat

Again, any black outfit with some cat ears and a little makeup will leave you looking purrfect. (I had to, I'm sorry!)

9. Minnie Mouse

Any spotted item of clothing with a red/white/black colour and a DIY headband would make a quick and easy costume.

Other Ideas

10. Devil

A little red dress with a DIY horns headband would be easy to put together.

11. Angel

Any white outfit with a DIY halo and maybe some wings would capture the angel you really are.

12. Mary Poppins

A black skirt, white shirt, red bowtie and black hat would be easy items to find in any clothing store.

13. Where's Wally

A red and white striped top, some blue jeans and a stripy beanie would make such a cute outfit.

14. Pikachu

This look requires a little more DIY because you'll probably want a tail and headband to complete the look.

15. Harley Quinn

If you've got blonde hair then you could easily pull of this look with a little bit of makeup and hair chalk.

16. Katniss Everdeen

A black/brown outfit with combat boots and a leather jacket. You could even go the extra mile and add a mocking jay pin and a DIY bow and arrow.

17. Hogwarts Student

All you have to do is pair a red and yellow stripy tie with some old school uniform and maybe make a DIY wand too.

18. Werewolf

A little bit of skilled make up work and black/brown outfit is a great spooky (yet not ugly) look.

I think the best thing to keep in mind when coming up with Halloween costume ideas is to use items you already own like plain black items or coloured tees. Also, make up or face paint can transform any outfit into a costume, you just have to practice and be patient.

I hope this helped everyone who is stuck on a costume idea! I tried my best to find the original sources of the images used and many have a tutorial on the outfit so its worth checking out!

I hope you have a great day and also, Happy Halloween!

My Autumn Nail Picks

As I write this, I'm snuggled up in a comfy jumper, drinking a hot chocolate, my fairy lights are glowing and my chill playlist is on. It's autumnal paradise.

Autumn is full of deep, beautiful colours and who doesn't love to reflect that in the way they look? I know I certainly do! And one way to easily, yet subtly, add a splash of colour to your look is through your nail varnish! So, I thought I'd put together a small collection of my favourite nail varnish colours to wear this season!

From Left To Right: Barry M Gelly Chai; Primark PS Grey; Barry M Quick Dry Pomegranate; New Look Pure Colour Dark Green; Barry M Gelly Plum

As you can see, the theme of my nail varnish picks are rich, dark colours. My personal favourites are the Barry M Pomegranate and the Primark Grey. I feel like these colours are so autumnal and they just go with every autumn outfit I own! Come on, what captures autumn more than a rich red?

I feel like I need to buy a glittery burgundy to add to the collection... What do you think?

The Barry M varnishes are the quickest to dry but the other two are equally as good because they give good cover without having to apply several coats which is always a bonus!

What are your autumn nail recommendations? Let me know in the comments down below!

I hope you have a great day and if it's your birthday, happy birthday!

The Chilled Rainy Day Playlist

Music soothes the soul and I'm a strong believer of that. I love having music playing in the background when I do anything, but especially when there's nothing else to do. You can just relax in your room with really chill music playing, putting you in a really relaxed mood.

I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite chill songs which really put me in a relaxed mood; they're perfect for when it's raining outside and you've got nothing else to do.

If you're looking to buy some really relaxing albums then I would strongly recommend Ben Howard's music and some of the 1975's Music. Also, I know that some of the songs I've recommended may be a little hard to find on YouTube, especially the not-well-known ones, but they are so worth searching for.

What's your favourite songs for putting you in a relaxed mood? I'd love some recommendations.

I hope you have a great day and if it's your birthday, happy birthday!

Autumn Asthetic

Autumn is finally here and I could not be happier! *Internal Cheering* There are just so many things I love about autumn so it's definitely my favourite season: The cold weather; the boots, scarfs and coats; Halloween and fireworks. There is just so much to love!

Alongside the chilly weather and darker nights comes the beautiful colours and distinct autumnal feel that I've craved all year. In order to channel my inner autumn fangirl, I thought I'd put together a cute collection of images I found on Pinterest, that perfectly capture that autumn feel.

I pinned every image in the above collection to my autumn board on Pinterest which you can follow here. I intend to add to my collection throughout the season and it also has all of the sources of the images above.

I'm sorry this post is so short but I think the images do all the talking. They make me feel so cosy! I would also like to say a massive thank you for 1k page views! It's mind-blowing and I am grateful for every single one of you!

How To Drink More Water

It is so important that you take in enough fluid everyday to help keep your body healthy and hydrated and water is the best drink for this so it's essential you drink enough of it everyday.

About a month ago, I decided it was about time I got on top of my water intake because quite frankly, I hardly ever drunk any at all. And it wasn't just water. I could go a whole day, drinking no more than two glasses. But since I decided to change that, I've been drinking so much more!

The first thing I did was I did a little research. I found out that women should be drinking 1.6 litres of water everyday and men should be drinking 2 litres. After this, I just did a little maths.

The picture above shows the 600ml water bottle I drink from and the markings I added to it. What I did was, measured 100ml of water in a measuring jug, poured it into my water bottle and used a pen to mark the line. I then repeated this several times until the bottle was full.

After this, I worked out what time I needed to have drunk each 100ml by. The 8 line represents how much water I need to fill my bottle up with in the morning. At school, I then keep track of time and drink 100ml of water by the time specified. So by 9'o'clock, I would have drunk 100ml of water, by 10, I'd have dunk 200ml and so forth. At 2'o'clock, I then refill my bottle to the 2 line and drink it from there. This therefore means that I stay well hydrated throughout the school day and by 4'o'clock, I will have drunk 800ml of fluid. Half of my daily intake. The rest is simple.

The bigger glass above holds 300ml of water and the small glass holds 200ml. I drink one of the small glasses with my breakfast and two of the big glasses after school. This then adds up to 1.6ml -  the recommended daily intake. I also keep track of my water intake in my bullet journal which you can see here. Each water droplet in my journal represents 200ml which I know I need to drink 8 of. It's really that simple.

Taking the time to measure out the different amounts of water is the only (ever so slightly) challenging thing about drinking enough water. But when you've taken the time to do it once, it's so easy to keep up with and your body will thank you for it. At first I tried 150ml at each interval during the day but I found that too difficult to keep up with so I simply changed the markings to better suit me.

It's also important to remember that if you're doing lots of exercise during the day, or spending lots of time in the heat, then you should be drinking a lot more than this. Stay hydrated people! Hopefully you found this post interesting and useful!

I hope you have a great day and if it's your birthday, happy birthday!

How You Can Help Change Someone's Life

Organ Donation

A couple of weeks ago, I made the easy decision to become an organ donor and it's something that everyone should do. A donation can save or otherwise greatly improve a person's life so it's really worth just 2 minutes of your time.

I know some people may think I'm a bit young to be thinking of such things but there is no age limit to being an organ donor and you can still be a donor even if you have a medical condition. Any opportunity to be selfless is a good opportunity. So please take it.

Being a donor doesn't mean that tomorrow you could be called up to donate a kidney, (although becoming a living donor is still an option,) but it means that after death your organs can be donated to someone in need. One organ donor can save up to 9 lives and considering you won't be needing them anymore, I think its a great thing to do.

If you're a UK resident then all you have you to do is register online via the website www.organdonation.nhs.uk and spend 2 minutes of your day registering. After that, they'll send you a little information pack with a card saying you're a donor. It is really that simple.

It is such a great cause and can help so many lives, so please, register today.

I hope you have a great day and if it's your birthday, happy birthday!
